It is unacceptable that we are again facing the uncertainties of a government shutdown.
The Senate voted again on both the Republican CR (H.R. 5371) and the Democratic CR (S. 2882), which would have extended current funding levels through October 31, 2025, continued ACA tax credits, rolled back Medicaid cuts to address pending increases in healthcare costs, prohibited the President from increasing, eliminating, or reducing funding for programs until enacted by Congress, restricted the termination and furlough of employees, and prohibited the use of pocket rescissions and fast-track procedures for partisan rescissions.
The House passed the Republican CR before leaving town for a scheduled recess week. However, the Speaker decided to extend the recess past the funding deadline to force the Senate to agree to the Republican CR, and as of now, has no plans to bring members back this week.
